Marchés en France
Farmers’ market in France are usually held on Wednesday and Saturday / Sunday mornings. You can find everything from artisanal breads, fruits, vegetables, seafood and flowers to seasonal products such as artisanal oils, honey, olives and vinegar. The one I frequent also sells paella and roasted whole chicken. Going to these markets is my opportunity to practice my french with local sellers, eavesdropping on conversations and my favourite bit? I get to pick and choose the freshest seasonal products! I also find the coolest looking “ugly fruits” like a heart shaped aubergine, oblong tomatoes and striped coloured capsicum that looks mutated.
